I welcome everybody to this congregation of some very illustrious speakers and professionals from the world of architecture, urban planning and restoration. It is fitting that we are hosting this Convention in the ‘City of Joy’, constantly caught at the cross-roads of tradition and modernity. We can say with some amount of confidence that Kolkata has generously assimilated the vestiges of her imperial urban agglomerations, symbolizing the convergence of the East and West. But like every other city-at-crossroads, we too sometimes need to think aloud. And “Connecting Histories” will help in churning some of those ideas.
CREDAI Bengal is the primary industry body for real estate and whilst our primary objective is to promulgate the interests of the sector and generating new built-space, on the other hand, we are also very keen to learn about what other such cities on the lines of a metropolis like Kolkata have done to preserve and make relevant the architectural and public spaces of yore.
This Unique Convention called “CONNECTING HISTORIES” which is a joint initiative by us and the West Bengal Chapter of Indian Institute of Architects (IIA WB),will surely create a platform whereby we will aim to enrich our knowledge and vocabulary on contemporary architecture amidst sustaining our heritage and culture.
Welcome once again to all our Speakers and I’m sure we will see some fantastic Sessions over the next two days.
A warm welcome to the third edition of the CREDAI Bengal Realty Awards, 2017 in association with The Telegraph and CRISIL as our knowledge partner.
The Real Estate awards were conceived by CREDAI Bengal with the intention of recognizing the good work being done by the developers not only in terms of aesthetics but also for CSR, portal and onsite sales office. This we felt would encourage better execution and would enable us to compete in the national and international markets.
The project nominations have been judged in a completely transparent process and winners selected by an independent jury consisting of eminent personalities namely Professor Chetan Vaidya(Architect-Planner), Prem Nath(Architect), M. Selvarasu (Design Consultant – Green & MEP), Anurag Jhanwar (Consultant – Business & Data Insights) and Sanju Fernandes (Corporate Consultant). We truly appreciate the time and effort, the Jury members put in towards this noble cause in recognizing the efforts of real estate developers.
This year we received over 75 applications of which 40 projects had been shortlisted. The number of participants have been increasing over the years which surely is encouraging to all of us.
In addition, two new categories have been introduced this year – Best CSR project and Best Onsite Sales Office.
We should also acknowledge the hard work and innovative designs created by the architects. Today, though we do not have a separate award for our architects we would be mentioning the names of the Architect. As I feel the ceremony would be incomplete without acknowledging the architect’s work and would request the master of ceremonies to announce the names of the architects along with the projects that win the particular category. I would therefore request the Developer to share the name of the Architect when they go to receive the award.
All my colleagues from the industry who have once again come forward, participated in the event, many new contenders who have brought their project to the realm of the Awards – sincere gratitude to all our members. It has been healthy competition and we salute the spirit of participation.
Best wishes to all the members who participated in this year’s Awards and congratulations to all the Winners.
Welcome to Realty Expo 2016, eastern India’s leading real estate exhibition Welcome to Sri Sovan Chatterjee MIC – Housing, Environment and Fire & Emergency Services and Honourable Mayor of Kolkata.
Thank you to all the participants and developers present here at Realty Expo 2016 which is the most effective platform to connect with buyers who are eagerly waiting to buy or invest in upcoming projects. Realty Expo presents a plethora of high-end residential and commercial estates designed to meet the requirements for one and all.
This platform will not only allow the home buyers to come under one roof but also to interact with the leading developers of the real estate industry.
The timing of this year’s exhibition is significant in that the new piece of long-awaited legislation called Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Act 2016 has come into force across the country. Moreover, it is understood that the State Government is going to operationalize the provisions of the Act by framing Rules within the next month or so. RERA is going to radically transform the way real estate transactions shall be carried out and customers’ trust and confidence enhanced and secured. The real estate developers’ community welcomes this move in the interest of healthy and sustained growth of the industry whose socio-economic reach can be gauged by the fact that this industry is the second largest contributor to the State’s exchequer and also the fourth largest employment generator.
I am also at pains to mention that the real estate industry in this State, in sync with the countrywide phenomenon, is passing through a slump in demand. This market condition has made the developer community shy of embarking on large projects involving huge investments.
You would find that this exhibition showcases a large number of projects aimed at providing affordable housing. It is not only the Government of India through its mission of Housing for All by 2022 but also the State Government sincerely endeavour to provide housing at affordable prices.
I would also like to put on record that the initiatives of the State Government in bringing about policy reforms and amendment of rules aimed at facilitating ‘ease of doing business’ have been highly welcomed by the industry. Special mention should be made of the redefined Township policies and rules to promote development of new townships across the State.
Some of the exciting offers in this edition are offering upto 5% discount on spot bookings as well as giving away Gold Coins on every purchase. We also have Live Music, Hourly Lucky Draws, sit& draw competitions and celebrity presence.
I once again thank you for your presence and hope you all have a very fruitful experience at Realty Expo this year.
